What is a Lapa?

The basis for each Lapa (pronounced Larpa) is a timber frame supporting a genuine and fully thatched roof. Whilst traditional construction methods are employed the result is a contemporary and flexible outdoor living space.
In constructing our Lapas we have the option to use traditional African materials such as Cape Reed for the thatch roofs and natural African timber for the frame. Lapas can be built in many designs and sizes and they offer an outdoor living space that is not limited to a few great summer days.
