If you are looking to create a 100% natural school outdoor classroom then there is no substitute for a thatched Lapa. An outdoor thatched or cedar shingle classroom can be created to your school's individual requirements. Built from natural hardwood (sourced from sustainable production) and traditional thatch the buildings are environmentally sound and provide a unique outdoor teaching area.

Recent government guidelines for children states that more time should be spent outdoors, an outdoor teaching area provides a sheltered space that can be used in all weathers, providing shade in the summer months and shelter from the elements in wet weather.

Teaching outdoors is a perfect way to combine the healthy and natural environment with more practical learning. Being able to teach outdoors is the perfect opportunity for children to learn about habitats, migration and of course weather and climate, all key areas of our national curriculum. Being in an outdoor environment can provide the stimulating environment children need to learn, create and explore.

As well as being a perfect teaching area, the space can be used as a quiet area during breaks and playtime, a more relaxing area for teacher meetings and as a covered parents waiting area.

As an alternative to a genuine thatch lapa we also have a range of smaller gazebos that have all been used in school applications as outdoor teaching areas as well as lapas. The largest garden building can seat up to 30 children, ideal for teaching, outside the classroom.
